Becoming a Muse

Hello friends! I am so excited to launch Muse College Consulting and share this journey with you. For many years, I have imagined what it might be like to start my own business, but in full transparency, it took me a long time to build my confidence to feel brave enough to take this leap. I am so lucky to have amazing family, friends, and colleagues in my life who helped give me the courage, and I will never be able to properly thank them all, but I’m sure going to keep trying!

Muse College Consulting was born out of my passion for working in college access non-profit and higher education professional positions and my deep love for the performing arts. While I do not have professional theatre training (unless you count that my middle school show I did once upon a time), I have been going to the theatre for as long as I can remember. I am one of the many humans who will never get tired of filling those theatre seats. Ready for a slightly vulnerable tidbit…as soon as the overture begins and the curtain rises, I choke up with emotion and excitement, every-single-time.

The inspiration for creating Muse College Consulting really blossomed out of my experience working as the Director of Admissions for The Theatre School (TTS) at DePaul University. There I met and worked with talented, inspiring students who truly taught me what gumption looks like. I also had the privilege of learning more about the theatre and performing arts world than I could possible imagine. Most importantly, I had so much fun working with students on their admissions and college journey. My years working at TTS can be summed up in one word, ‘joyful!’

For this next chapter of my career, I want to continue to advise and mentor students who want to pursue the performing arts in college. While the process of applying can be daunting, I am here to provide tools, tips, tricks and a lot of big energy optimism and positivity to make this a fun and exciting experience for students. I want to be your college admissions muse and help you feel confident and inspired on this journey.

It is also important for me to share that I have always centered access and equity in my work, and I will continue this commitment as Muse College Consulting grows. My dream is to have an umbrella organization for first generation and/or under resourced students that will break down barriers, particularly through scholarships and institutional financial support. As I launch this business, my mission and vision is to plant the seeds for this now and watch it grow.

I am so grateful to have you along for the ride and can’t wait to see the possibilities and outcomes of our work together. We are going to have so much fun!
